Why Flashback

The useful part of clipping.
None of the nuisance.

Flashback is a local replay recorder for Windows 11. It keeps recent video ready in the background, saves on demand, and organizes the result—without turning recording into another social platform.

THE PRODUCT PRINCIPLE
“Be ready when the moment happens, then get out of the way.”

No accounts. No automatic uploads. No engagement loop.

What it does

A replay system,
not a recording project.

There is no need to start a recording before every match or scrub through hours of footage later. Flashback is built around the few seconds you actually want to keep.

01

A rolling local buffer

Flashback continuously records short hardware-encoded segments to a managed temporary buffer on your PC.

02

Your global shortcut

Choose a single key or a Ctrl, Alt, Shift, or Win combination that works from a game, the desktop, or while Flashback is hidden.

03

A safe background export

Completed segments are assembled into a normal MP4 while the recorder immediately continues capturing.

04

Automatic organization

The active fullscreen game decides the folder and filename. Otherwise, the clip is filed under Desktop.

What it does better

Less friction at
every step.

Flashback is opinionated: replay capture should feel like a quiet Windows utility, not a destination you have to manage.

Under the hood

Performance is a feature,
not a settings toggle.

Flashback uses hardware H.264 encoding and display capture that does not inject into a game. Bounded recovery handles transient capture failures, completed buffer segments are reused during export, and storage cleanup runs oldest-first at your chosen limit.

  • Hardware-accelerated encoding
  • 30, 60, 120, and 240 FPS capture options
  • Capture recovery with bounded retries
  • Local stream-copy assembly and on-demand previews
